Kickin’ off Artistic Residencies: The Purple, Red, Yellow, Blue and Green Team

The artistic teams started working together in periods of residencies: first off were the Purple Team in Dresden (Germany), the Red Team in Jesi (Italy) and the Yellow Team in Pesaro (Italy). Then at the end of July came the Blue Team in Ljubljana (Slovenia), and the Green Team is planning their first residency in Novi Sad (Serbia) in December.

The Purple Team

From March 12th to 19th, Sonia Antinori (MALTE – Musica Arte Letteratura Teatro Etc) and Matilda Klamas & Sara Östebro (Teater Nu) gathered at Zentralwerk e.V. for the first TestArt artistic residency, shaping the foundation of an upcoming theatre piece.
The process began with a shared reading of letters produced as a preparation for the residency, revealing recurring themes—belonging, time, routine, and mortality. These letters became the foundation for improvisations, character explorations, and writing exercises, all circling around the idea of “how to live.”
Between yoga sessions, deep discussions, and a visit to Hellerau, they shaped the structure of the performance: the script will be written by Sonia Antinori (MALTE) and Matilda Klamas (Teater Nu), and it will be performed by the actor Andrea Caimmi from Italy and an actress from Sweden (TBA).
A big thank you to the team of Zentralwerk – Barbara Lubich, Bettina Lehmann, Christian Palmizi and Andreas Grossmann – for hosting and to the artists Sonia Antinori, Matilda Klamas, Andrea Caimmi and Sara Östebro for the intense creative work!
Performances are about to take place in Dresden in the spring of 2026. Stay tuned!

The Red Team

The Red Team, composed by Teatar Mladih Mišolovka (Serbia) and Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini (Italy) carried out their first artistic residency from 3rd to 9th June at Teatro Moriconi in Jesi.
“𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘢, 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘱𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘠𝘦𝘵, 𝘸𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘫𝘰𝘺𝘧𝘶𝘭”
The show will be Petra’s, Emilija’s and Vasilije’s personal reflection on what it means to make theater today in the “small, chaotic Serbia” and it will debut in Jesi in early 2026, as a world premiere.
By combining different performing languages, they want to inspire the audience to transform worries into “veselje”, a Serbian word that means “joy for no particular reason”.

The Yellow Team

At the beginning of June, the Yellow Team, formed by PotatoPotato (Sweden) and AMAT (Italy) had their first artistic residency in Pesaro.
“Can you see it? It’s there, we just forgot” it’s a phrase you’ll hear often in this soon-to-be new theatre production.
Between guided tours, bees, Pizza Rossini and an “unusual” artistic research, the team promises a ground-breaking work on society.

The Blue Team

Hamlet or the FOMO is officially born in Ljubljana!
The Italian companies Collettivo Collegamenti and Asini Bardasci have launched their new transnational production at the Stara Mestna Elektrarna cultural space, hosted by Bunker.
What does it mean to be a #performer today?
The Team explored the themes of doubt, paralysis, performance and social pressure through their bodies, sounds, and voices.
Their contemporary Hamlet is an archetype that draws on philosophical reflections on Kierkegaard’s drama of choice, Bauman’s liquid modernity and Colamedici Gancitano’s performance society, in which “to be or not to be” is no longer a question but a daily imperative that seems to engulf our existence.

The Green Team

The Team, formed by Centripeta (Italy) and Šok Zadruga – LED ART (Serbia) is planning their artistic residency from 8th to 14th December, to be held in Novi Sad (Serbia).  CENTRIPETA’s artistic research has always been focusing on questioning our time, trying to formulate questions that can be meaningful. Art is political engagement; art must be political engagement. LED ART is coming from a very long and relevant history in art as a political statement, a political provocation. They started at the end of last century with big live performances in Novi Sad and elsewhere using art as a political tool to question politicians and citizens.
Having this clear, the Team chose to focus on the current political state in Serbia, trying to understand what they can tell us, all Europe and the world.
